Documents Required for Aadhaar Card : While applying for many kinds of financial products, including credit cards, loans, savings accounts, fixed deposits, and credit cards, an Aadhar card acts as confirmation of identity and proof of address.

Certain documents must be submitted in order to apply for an Aadhaar card. If you have previously enrolled for Aadhaar but need to make some modifications to your current information, you will also need to provide specific documents.

  1. Identity proof documents (should contain your name and photo).
  2. Address proof documents (should contain your name and address).
  3. Date of birth documents.
  4. Proof of relationship documents (should contain information about the head of the family).

The original copies of any documents you want to submit must be submitted. They will scan these documents and send them back. Photocopies do not need to be printed and submitted.

Proof of Identity (POI) Documents – Comprising Name and Photograph

Any of the following documents will be accepted as an ID proof document:

  1. PAN card
  2. Passport
  3. Voter ID
  4. PDS Photo Card/Ration Card
  5. Driving Licence.
  6. PSU-issued Service Photo ID Card/Government-issued Photo ID Card.
  7. Photo ID Card issued by a recognised institute of education.
  8. NREGS Job Card.
  9. Arms Licence.
  10. Photo Credit Card.
  11. Photo Bank ATM Card.
  12. Freedom Fighter Photo Card.
  13. Pensioner Photo Card.
  14. Kissan Photo Passbook.
  15. Department of Posts issued an Address Card comprising a name and photograph.
  16. ECHS/CGHS Photo Card.
  17. Certificate of Identity comprising a photograph issued by a Tehsildar/Gazetted Officer on a letterhead.
  18. State/Union Territory Governments/Administrations issued handicapped medical certificates or Disability ID Cards.
  19. Bhamashah Card.
  20. Certificate of Identity comprising a photograph issued by an MLA/MLC/MP/Municipal Councilor on a letterhead.
  21. Certificate from the head of a recognised educational institution/warden/superintendent/matron.
  22. RSBY Card.
  23. Gazette notification in case of name change.
  24. SC/ST/OBC Certificate comprising a photograph.
  25. SSLC book comprising a photograph.
  26. Marriage Certificate comprising a photograph.
  27. For rural areas – A Certificate of Identity comprising a photograph issued by the mukhiya or village panchayat head.

Proof of Date of Birth (DOB) Documents for Aadhaar Card

You can submit any of the following documents to ascertain your date of birth:

  1. Birth Certificate.
  2. Passport.
  3. SSLC Certificate/Book.
  4. PAN Card.
  5. A DOB Certificate on letterhead issued by a Group A Gazetted Officer.
  6. Marksheet issued by any University or Government Board.
  7. Government or PSU issued Photo ID Card containing date of birth.
  8. State/Central Pension Payment Order.
  9. Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme Photo Card or Central Government Health Scheme Photo Card.
  10. I-Card/Certificate comprising a DOB and photograph signed and issued by a Government authority.
  11. Photo ID Card comprising a DOB issued by a recognised educational institution.

Proof of Relationship (POR) Documents – Comprising Details with Head of Family if Required

Any of the following information can be submitted to have your evidence of relationship verified. Please be aware that the document or documents you provide might need to include information about your relationship with your family’s head:

  1. Passport.
  2. PDS Card.
  3. State Government/ECHS/ ESIC/CGHS Medical Card.
  4. Army Canteen Card.
  5. Pension Card.
  6. MNREGA Job Card.
  7. Birth Certificate issued by Municipal Corporation, Registrar of Birth, or any other notified local body of the Government such as Tehsil, Taluk, etc.
  8. Family entitlement document issued by a State or the Central Government.
  9. Government-issued Marriage Certificate.
  10. Bhamashah Card.
  11. Department of Posts issued Address Card comprising a name and a photograph.
  12. Discharge slip/card issued by a government hospital in case of birth of a child.
  13. Certificate of Identity comprising a photograph issued by an MLA/MLC/MP/Gazetted Officer/Municipal Councilor on a letterhead.
  14. For rural areas – A Certificate of Identity comprising a photograph and relationship with the head of the family issued by the mukhiya or village panchayat.

Proof of Address (POA) Documents for Aadhar Card – Comprising Name and Address

Here are the documents that are acceptable as proof of address:

  1. Passport.
  2. Passbook/Bank Statement.
  3. Ration Card.
  4. Driving Licence.
  5. Voter ID.
  6. Passbook/Post Office Account Statement.
  7. PSU-issued Service Photo ID Card/Government-issued Photo ID Card.
  8. Water bill (issued in the last three months).
  9. Electricity Bill (issued in the last three months).
  10. Gas Connection Bill (issued in the last three months).
  11. Telephone Landline Bill (issued in the last three months).
  12. Credit Card Statement (issued in the last three months).
  13. Property Tax Receipt (issued in the last one year).
  14. Insurance Policy.
  15. Signed Letter on letterhead comprising a photograph issued by a registered company.
  16. Signed Letter on letterhead comprising a photograph issued a bank.
  17. Photo ID comprising address/Signed Letter comprising a photograph issued by a recognised educational institution.
  18. Arms Licence.

  35. Parents’ Passport in case of a minor.
  36. Allotment letter of accommodation issued by State/Central Government (issued in the last three years).
  37. Government-issued Marriage Certificate comprising address.
  38. Certificate on letterhead issued by Head of Institution/Warden/Superintendent/Matron of recognised shelter homes for orphanages.
  39. ID Card issued by a recognised educational institution.
  40. Municipal Councilor issued certificate of address comprising a photograph on letterhead.
  41. For rural areas – Certificate of Address issued by the head of the panchayat or an equivalent authority.

Documents Required for Children’s Aadhaar Card

Children must provide the same paperwork as adult applicants in order to receive an Aadhaar card. In addition to the paperwork needed for standard applicants, one of the parents needs to present their Aadhaar card. Youngsters under the age of five are not required to provide biometric data.

Once children reach the age of five years, their biometric data is collected.

The documents needed for an Aadhaar card for a child over the age of five years are as follows:

  1. Identity proof
  2. Address proof
  3. A parent’s Aadhaar card
  4. Birth certificate

The following documents are acceptable as address proof:

  • Spouse’s passport
  • Voter ID
  • Credit card statement for last three months
  • Electricity bill for last three months
  • Gas connection bill for last three months

  • Driving licence
  • Bank passbook/statement
  • Water bill for last three months
  • Landline phone bill for last three months
